Each year Bright Asset Management donates to several non-profit organizations on behalf of clients as part of our ongoing commitment to helping others around the world. Below is a brief description of those organizations Bright Asset Management donated funds, along with a link to the organization’s website.
Direct Relief International
Direct Relief International has been working since 1948 to improve the health systems of developing nations by providing medical equipment, medicines, and other supplies. Through wholesalers, they are able to turn a one dollar donation into $25-$35 worth of medical supplies. Which supplies are sent to any particular country is based upon the requests of the health professionals in the country which better know their own needs. They have also helped in crisis situations; the tsunami in Southeast Asia and the area ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. For more information, please visit www.DirectRelief.org.
AmeriCares
AmeriCares is a global humanitarian group that provides badly needed medical supplies in disaster situations. It began in 1982, when Pope John Paul II asked for help from the AmeriCares founder for the people of Poland who lacked basic medical services. Since then it has grown to have projects and efforts underway on every continent. Its national efforts include AmeriCares Free Clinics for the uninsured, AmeriCares Home Front aids in home repair, and Camp AmeriKids looks out for kids infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. More information can be found on their website, www.americares.org.
World Vision
World Vision is a Christian organization which works in underdeveloped countries to bring relief as well as development. It works with the children and communities to tackle the issue of poverty and all the other problems that accompany it; crime, malnutrition, disease, etc. Its efforts began in the 1950s helping orphaned Korean children, and in 2000 World Vision began a Hope Initiative to deal with the HIV/AIDS crisis around the world.
